FEAR!
October 10th 2007 06:03
There are some very common fears which a lot of people experience and the no. 1 is?
You may know it already, but you know this has never been one of my fears, shy as I am.
I'm going to Mum's for dinner to-night so took some of my bosses time and my own to get this done and tomorrow night I'm going shopping. I've lots of news but I thought maybe I should get on with the task of discussing feelings, not just my own. So to-day I've chosen FEAR.
So now I'm looking silly because I thought that what people feared most was talking into a microphone, but apparently not.
So, it seems the list of fears is variable depending on whom one consults.
So here's a list of 20 things voted in by the viewers of BBC news. In reverse order:
20. Haircuts:
19. Birds, wings, feathers
18. Gravy:
17. Boats:
16. Mould/cheese:
15. Computers
14. Scarecrows:
13. Flamingos:
12. Carrots:
11. Pen-lids:
10. Coleslaw:
9. Cats:
8. Wind farms:
7. Animal costumes:
6. Takeaway forks/ice lolly sticks:
5. The letter Y:
4. Tomatoes:
3 Baked beans:
2. Balloons:
1. Buttons:
Unbelievable aren't they, but I bet I could and will come up with different lists at other times.
How do these compare with your fears?
I must admit I don't actually like having my haircut. And mouldy cheese is not for me. I used to hate cole-slaw as I don't like cabbage but I quite like raw cabbage as opposed to cooked. In actual fact eating cooked cabbage would probably make me want to throw up. Baked beans are probably not a good thing before having company.
I think I'd like to hear from you and I'll try a little harder for me, but you already know my great fear.
I'm planning to go out again this Friday night but I was a bit overdressed last Friday, it's all pretty casual. So to-morrow I'll see what I can find to wear that's a bit more appropriate but I really liked dressing up last Friday. It made me feel really good.
I'll fill you in tomorrow sometime on how it's all going.
And I'm going to have my hair cut in the bosses time to-morrow, the men do it all the time. So, I don't see why I shouldn't.
Those fears all look a little ridiculous to me but I guess they are very significant for those who have them and I have heard that the greatest fear of all is fear of fear, itself.

I am frightened of moths. It's the powdery stuff on their wings.

I used to be bound by fear and, in fact, sometimes I still am.... I think it`s fearing the unknown and fearing failure that used to be my problem.
Not sure I have any of those fears listed above, but they would be pretty horrible to whoever has them.
Good luck with the haircut. I once cut all my hair off myself - and had to wait for years for it to look decent again! Having a professional do it comes highly recommended
