Crystal's great weekend: alone again naturally.
November 11th 2007 09:18
I had such a wonderful weekend, after seeing Jim on Friday night. I went off to my cooking class and found out we were doing soups and stews.
They chose this combination as they said with some simple self-prepared stock (and that way they could limit our salt intake) they could make quite a range of different soups for different cultures and could use the same stock for making stews and curries and some of the same ingredients, the stews were just thicker and bulkier and contained much more in the way of meat and vegetables. They also gave a simple recipe for dumplings which could be added to "Irish stew" and the Asian community were well represented with curries.
We'd be doing stir frys next week.
Because of time restrictions they were unable to prepare much in the way of deserts, but showed us how we could use berries or paw paw or papaya and mango and pineapple served simply with a yoghurt or custard or even ice cream for those who were not concerned about their cholesterol or for special occasions.
Really we did pepare a lot from just a little and they gave us some clues about organising our shopping based on pre-planned meals and for economies in purchasing.
We had to clean up as we went and sample each of the soups at the end. My little friend who had taken such a shine to me was in his element and just loved everything he was required to do and insisted on helping me. His name was Sebastian but he said everyone called him "bast" short for an unmentionable word. I was happy to call him Sebastian.
It seemed to be over very quickly and with the recipe sheets they gave us I could see that mealtimes at home were going to be special from now on.
Sebastian almost begged me to have a coffee with him and I felt I couldn't say no, he was such an excitable little fellow. He insisted on paying which made me feel rather bad and prattled on quite happily as we drank our coffee.
I dropped a hint about to-morrow's outing which fell on deaf ears, I just don't think he was interested in me in that way so I felt greatly relieved.
The rest of the day passed in chores and before long it was kitty and I alone together on a Saturday night, that seemed to be the story of my life.
Jim rang on time on Sunday which was good and was at my place to collect me within half an hour.
He had a lovely sports car and off we went, he just wanted to drive. We ended up down the south coast and had lunch at a small hotel which was frequented by Jazz fanatics and I loved every second of the outing. We got home about 8p.m. and he said he had to dash but gave no hint as to where he had to dash to.
I really like him but I'm not sure this is leading anywhere. I hate that, but I guess I'm such a novice at these things that I probably miss vital clues.
Oh, well, it's Tinkerbelle and me, alone again, naturally.

Sometimes you find what you are looking for in the most unexpected places! Hang in there, Jim might still be what you are looking for!
