Would you go away with your parents for a holiday?
March 20th 2008 06:15
I'm home early and have plenty of time to get ready for the weekend away with my parents.
We're going up the north coast to stay in a cottage on the beach which belongs to friends of the family, they're going elsewhere for Easter so this is a perfect opportunity.
There's plenty of bedrooms so everything will be very proper with us all having our own rooms.
Andrew had been going to spend it up near the farm but I would have gone with my parents on my own so he changed his mind when he was invited along.
It's been a bit of a rush as the decision was only taken at the last minute, I expect Andrew and I will go for long walks along the beach, especially at night and mum and dad will do their own thing. As mum says it's not going to be just like home, she and dad want a break too and they're planning to eat out a lot. The whole thing will be very casual.
Dad will drive mum up there and Andrew wants to take his car and as I'm not all that fond of driving this suits me fine.
Mum and dad have left already and Andrew is still at work but he'll come straight here from work to colect me, go back to his place to change and throw some gear together and we'll be off, I offered to make dinner but Andrew wants to get away as quickly as he can. He says we'll stop for tea somewhere about 10 tonight so I've put together some snacks and a thermos of coffee for Andrew and I'm going to insist he stops for breaks now and again to avoid driver fatigue, the traffic will be so thick and many will speed.
I've got some books to take and at lunch time I bought a couple of books for Andrew which I think he might like to read.
The plan is to make it as restful a stay as possible but I think maybe mum will want us to go to church tomorrow and Sunday and if that's all that is required of us, we'll no doubt go.
I certainly shall and Andrew, easy going as he is, is unlikely to resist.
I don't think I'd go if I were here on my own but I'm sure it will do me no harm and with some music I think I shall probably enjoy it. Singing in Church can be wonderfully uplifting for the spirits and Easter really is a very special occasion for Christians, strong and weak.
I often feel how lucky we are to live in a Christian country even though most are not practising Christians with respect to Church attendance.
I'm not here to preach the gospel I am just telling you how I feel about things.
I'm really well organised, my neighbour is going to look after Tinkerbelle and like the parents of a large family she says what difference does one more make. She has no children, but does have a large family of cats who wander in and out of my garden as it pleases them and always have.
I feel as excited as a school girl which really is rather silly. I am so looking forward to this little break from the usual routine and surroundings.
People at work thought me a bit odd for taking my fairly new boyfriend off for a weekend with my parents but I wonder how you feel.
Do let me know.

Hope you had a good weekend, not into Church myself, weekends away rock but not a fan of the Easter traffic, Sydney is so lovely and empty at Easter.
