Are you happy in your job and if not, what would you like to do about it?
March 12th 2008 03:14
Life goes on and the romance is going well, sorry to disappoint some of you.
I had a talk to 'face ache' rather than wait until 'next time' and I was very straight, boss or no boss.
He knew entirely what was going on and started off with a smirk on his face, he wasn't smirking by the time I'd finished with him.
I guess I'm rather fortunate in the position I hold and I am going to approach the Board to reassign my position so I answer to them, not him.
It was a strain doing it, but I felt much better afterwards.
Have you ever been 'got at' by your boss, not necessarily in this way, but there are lots of sneaky things they are capable of doing. Female bosses are probably worse, if anything.
But I've never had a female boss and I don't have much staff of my own to worry about but plenty of staff to call on if I need assistance, but this does not happen very often.
Work situations can be quite unpleasant at times, I just wish I knew how many actually like their jobs and their working associates and how many just hate it but put up with it for the sake of security and a regular pay packet.
I think most young people in their first job are fairly clueless about the workforce and can fall into unsuspecting traps, not knowing there are ways of handling these things, quite often, but not always, sometimes the only real solution is to leave the job and look elsewhere.
So the question I am going to pose today is "Are you happy in your job and if not what would you like to do about it?"
This question is for you, nothing to do with ME.
I'll be looking forward to the responses of how you feel, not so much how you think, and having in mind that this blog is titled fearlovehate.
So everyone, how would you answer that question?

Is there the perfect work environment?
In our own mind - sure - but whether we prove to be our own boss from hell or whether we have one stand in for us while we make big bucks for someone else is sometimes purely academic.
I would like to think I'm working towards finding that 'perfect niche" - surrounding myself with the knowledge, networks and sometimes luck - to take that next step.
Til then - hi ho hi ho - it's off to work I go.
Cheers

I don't have a job, I am here on Orble as an entrepreneur, but these things take time, haven't earned 1 cent yet, bitterly disappointed, but mummsey keeps me, so I don't have the usual dramas with work, sounds quite grim, I guess if I had a job I'd go if I hated it so much, but money is always a problem, but I may set a trend here, then lots of people could quit.

I mean if you look at my life, you see it is a complete sad case (I am soooooooooooooooooo not going to go into the detail of that.), but because i always try stay happy. I can make the best out of the bad situation, where if I just stay sad all day, well...face the fact, hitting the bottle ever night, won't really get me anywhere.
Cheers

I
loveUSED to Love my job. I had a Great boss, great workmates, until my boss had to be moved to something more challenging (against his will).Since then things started to get boring and I started getting too depressed, unmotivated and down.
It will always depend on how you take it. Unfortunately things came at the wrong time so I wasn't able to take it on a good note.
Now I'm about to adjust to ANOTHER new boss. great huh?

I think, like most others who have posted here, that finding a job in which your personality and your attitude can be stabilised is the most important thing. For me, working with others and just hanging out can be terribly difficult because I don't speak much and am to self-concious. I have had bosses but never in the capacity that you seem to have where you are working for a proper business organisation (that's the impression I got anyway). I think that it takes courage to change something even if that something make you unhappy as you don't know what the repercussions will be. However it is important that we do and so good on you and everyone else who takes matters into their own hands!

and it doesn't matter what stuation, working with other people is hard........ i have my own busness and have only one Biz partner, we have lots of things we dont see eye to eye on, in the end it is more stressful but also good to have pushback, it makes you try harder

Mr. NG, a typical MNG answer, good for you, you sound like a dream husband, but many men just do get on with it. And good on them.
Fobzy, I do hope you can bring it all off and set many people free.
Don’t be so tuff on yourself Peter, it sounds like you’ve got what it takes to get there in the end.
Techno, I’m sure you’d be a delight to work with and take the teasing all in good fun.
Queenie, you are so right and I’m glad you’ve found a good situation now, work can really destroy you if you’re not careful, especially being female, I think.
Damo, very philosophical and I’m sure this makes you a good husband.
Hazel, you have my sympathies, the work place can be a cess pool although I hate to say it.
Nathan, that’s a wonderful, very intelligent response and you need never feel inferior to anyone.
Louie, good response, but just make sure it is not you feeling you must work harder. Take care, my good friend.
What wonderful responses you have all given me, thank you so much. And may the force be with you.
