Crystal's date and that first kiss !
November 9th 2007 21:00
Jim and I met last night as planned. I was beginning to wonder if I'd recognise him but I did, silly me.
He was a 'take charge' type and I found I responded to that quite well. I like a man who is a man, although he's still quite young really just a few years older than I am.
He took my arm and steered me towards one of the buildings, "there's a nice little restaurant up here which is not too crowded and we'll get a chance to talk as they don't hassle people"
That's if you like Chinese, if not we can always go somewhere else, but I replied I loved Chinese, at least it was not going to be a plastic table in a shopping centre, that was a BIG PLUS.
Jim offered me a drink at the bar, to start, but I declined and he decided we'd just have something at the table. But I didn't feel like alcohol so he just ordered a mineral water for me while he, himself, just had a glass of wine.
It took us a while to choose from the menu and then we were free to talk. He was quite witty and had me laughing before long and expecially about my background with men.
I gathered he never had much trouble with the ladies and suffered none of the problems I had with my social incompetence.
I wanted to know more about him but our entree arrived and we concentrated on talking about the food and eating. He told me about the shots he'd taken at the gardens and said he liked doing photography it stood him in good stead in between girlfriends. I asked just how many girlfriends he had had, just enough came his swift reply and we both laughed.
He observed that he didn't think I'd have much trouble with men and I told him a little about myself.
It turned out he was a banker and he said he was sorry to tell me that, that he got far too much money for doing so little and he was no more keen on banks than were other people but suggested I keep that comment to myself.
He'd broken up with his last girlfriend as she wanted to get married or at least move in together and Jim was a man who liked to do the running and said he'd never lived with anyone and wasn't about to start to but he realised it was time for him to find himself a suitable girl and do the marriage bit and have kids but he said finding the right one was not going to be easy as he'd had too many of the wrong ones, nice enough girls in their own way but definitely not good marriage material
And you are? I questioned. He laughed out loud and at least I'd met a man who did not mind being challenged. It struck me far too many of them liked to always play the game their way.
He looked a little chastened, "I suppose that means me, too", and I replied "that may well be true".
The evening passed quite quickly, really, which was a bit of a disappointment as I enjoyed his company so much but I had found out very little about him. I'd like to find out a lot more.
He asked a few things about me but his questions were not intrusive.
He said he was due at his parents to-morrow, as he'd fallen in to that habit since breaking up with his last girl, but was free on Sunday if I'd like to do something.
He actually caught me off balance I was not thinking that far ahead. But I agreed and we swapped phone numbers, but I told Jim that I didn't usually call men, so he'd have to call me.
"No worries", he said. "I'll call Sunday morning, say about 10?" That'd be fine I replied.
He escorted me to my car in the car park and we talked a little about it, you know how it is with men and cars.
Just before I got into the car he pulled me to him and kissed me. My first kiss, WOW, it was nice, and so was he, but I still knew so little about him. Maybe Sunday I'd find out a little more. I thanked him for a great time and he too observed that it had gone well, "obviously the Gardens are the place to go", we laughed and I got home a little after midnight. I felt really happy.

Flick Wit
I had my first kiss when I was fourteen or so, and I got lucky too - it was so thrilling! But then, I do know how to pick 'em...
