Crystal's delights and dilemmas.

I just feel so happy today, but I hate the thought of leaving little kitty. We had such a good time together around the house and out in the back garden.
I can't say I'm all that well organised and I do want to modify a side door with a cat door so she can go in and out but I'll have to organise a cat run for her, there seems to be so much to do and all for one little pussy cat. She still doesn't have a name although "Petal" comes to mind but for no good reason. I'd like to name her after a crystal but 'quartz'? no, that just wouldn't do.
My mind is on what she is likely to get up to while I'm away, I'll have to close a few doors, I know she is going to miss me, and "face ache" is bound to wonder about my pre-occupation with things other than his work. He really is a pain and his manner is no inducement to my turning my thoughts where they should be, i.e. to work and after all it is Monday.
I just know I'm going to be taking some "sickies" soon so I can arrange the workmen to come in and build the cat run and modify the door, which I want to do quickly so kitty can go outside whenever she pleases and I won't have to worry about her.
The cat next door jumped over the fence when I was outside with her and eyed my cat up and down. I would have tried to introduce them to each other but she took in the scene and decided she wasn't going to stay, going back to her own little family. I did feel sad that kitty would never have kittens but they all get 'fixed up' nowadays don't they, otherwise there'd be cats everywhere and they say they kill the wildlife.
I want her run to be as aesthetically pleasing as possible and just blend in with the garden. I've a couple of ideas in mind and I'll show you the sort of things I've been thinkng of, like a rose arbor or somesuch, with flowers growing over the top and down the sides or perhaps just briar roses. Then again, I don't want anything too prickly. When I'm home I want to be able to open it out so that it can become an integral part of the whole garden.
I suppose at work today it will take a while for everything to settle down, I always find the first few hours on Monday rather quiet until everyone gets organised both within our company and elsewhere with our associates.
So that will give me a chance to settle down and return to normal after my weekend high.
At present I am working on an important project plus fine tuning some others which have been handed to me prior to the board giving their approval. Woe betide me if I get it wrong and there are usually problems with the final stages of any plans and a lot of negotiation has to be successfully managed.
I stilll find it strange how well I manage study and work and how much less well I handle ordinary things but I'm learning and the smallest things give me such unexpected pleasure, like a cat that most 10 year olds could manage quite effectively.
But I am not 10 and I want to savour every moment. How do you feel about cats and other animals? Do you find me a little strange?
I think this is all I can manage to day. I have new responsibilities you know.

I can understand your worries, but I just want to assure you - cats are incredibly self-sufficient and they can entertain themselves quite fine without you. As much as you want to think they will miss you and all want to be with you - they are also ok to be by themselves at home or in and around the block when you are away.
It is also ok - once your cat knows where 'home' is (generally where they know they'll get fed) - to just leave them outdoors. Don't worry about dogs/traffic/people - they are street smart and always knows when to come home.
I used to be all worried and stuff when my kitty is young (and her name did end up being just 'Kitty'!) but realised that I am probably over-thinking everything. A couple of tips to keep him/her to just be a home cat is to have a couple of toys for her like a tower next to a window she can look out with, and a couple of toy mice and springs and a little soft cushion bed will do
You are not strange - you are just like all of us cat lovers who want to think they are our own kids and they do love us.
They do - they just also love themselves a little bit more
