How do you feel when you eat your favourite food?

It was my first ballet class today, which was probably a bit silly of me, as I only went back to work yesterday. And oh, that first day, after a couple of hours you feel as if you've never had a holiday.
And I've put on a few kilos and some centimetres around my waist so after not having danced for so long, to-morrow is going to be tricky, I'm reasonably sure it will have to be pain killers although tonight I just loved it.
But I was smart enough to take it very easy, some of these ballet teachers can be quite unmindful of the deleterious effects on the body when it has not been used this way before for a long time.
However, even with my caution I know I'm going to suffer. But tonight I feel so refreshed and invigorated and I felt as if I came alive.
But having put on some 'condition' has prompted me to think about what I've been eating and why.
Well, Jim likes ice cream and so do I. He'll often go and get us both a bowl from the frig and gives me as much as he gives himself, which, for me, is far too large a portion. Jim hasn't put on any weight whatsoever and says he likes my curves. Well I'm not surprised about that. But despite his preferences, they are not mine and I realise it is not good for one's health to carry those extra kilos.
I don't really have a problem with food normally, but if I don't stop I'll soon be the size of a house, which is not a good look.
When I eat ice cream I feel as if I am being totally indulged, I like the taste and the creamy texture and while on holidays Jim would often stop the car and dash into a shop for ice creams for the two of us. Apparently food was a little scarce in Jim's household when he was growing up and now he indulges himself with ice creams.
Trouble is he indulges me too, and it's a very pleasant feeling to be biting into that lush desert or the ice creams when we are out driving.
So for me that is going to have to stop. Sigh. It was such a nice thing to do and always makes me feel happy.
So how do you feel when you eat your favourite food and do you find it difficult to give up?
I feel cared for and loved and it is going to be difficult to give up and then just to indulge myself occasionally.

If you are going back to ballet, maybe you can keep a few treats and it will all even out? I like frozen yogurt more than icecream.
Did you do ballet from when you were a little girl? One of my best friends was a professional Australian ballerina, but she had to retire due to injury. Plus, she was getting sick a lot from the starvation.

Movies and Life
I go through stages where I'm not bothered about different types of foods so it's easy not to give into cravings...and then there are the other times (like today), where I yearn for chocolate. Its my main craving, not fast food etc, so I try to balance it out by walking at least half an hour each day. I should do more yoga, but I say that more than I do it. Ah well.
Great post,
Tracy

I was strictly a fruit kinda guy when it came to satisfying my sweet side - until recently - and ouch!
Still - I console myself with the thought that I'm reasonably active - so for you - ballet sounds like not only a passion but also a saviour of sorts.
Everything in moderation I guess.
Good luck.
By the way - Ibuprofen is a wonderful invention

But, at the right time eating the right food (right as in, crave for the moment, not healthy choices
I did ballet for 2 years when I was 4. Never again. Do you think I can still pick up ballet now?

Tracy, I’m glad you don’t have a problem, I don’t either, people tend to take me too seriously. I’ve recovered from my initial class but it was quite hard, even though I took it easy.
Raven, you’re such a trick and a true brick, who else would put their image up like that, although you do well as the cat, it’s a hard life, as the saying goes.
Thanks MNG, yes I hit the pain killers, I was a bit worse than I expected. I know someone who took up Ballet when she was about 30, no-one warned her and she couldn’t move for a week, but she did manage to get to the next weekly class.
Amy, what you say is so true, I’m sure you can pick up Ballet, again, I know a lot of little ones who get frightened away by unkind teachers, who expect, even at 4 that you’ll put up or shut up. Many fractured dreams, usually of the mother’s. I’m sure you can pick it up, but you need to go to the right sort of class and not expect too much of yourself, you seem to have the right frame for Ballet.
Techno, only you could get away with that, always on the run, I thought you were going to say that you wanted to take up Ballet, although you’d be bound to be a hit with the girls but may opt out of being a hit with some of the boys.
Lovely of you all to give me such interesting comments and Raven’s pictures.
