My boss just loves me, but you'd never know it.

I've had some great bosses, and some horrendous ones. My boss now is me and we get on just fine.

You would be Gen Y if you are under 30 wouldn't you? If can refer to anyone born as early as 1976, I think, though I don't think it's precise!

I have had one fabulous boss, whom I worked for as an assistant manager before I left for university. During high school, and since university... not so fabulous bosses! But you get that.

All the points you have listed there annoy me too! Lateness I have been guilty of once or twice, but I cannot stand pretentiousness, lack of professionality or ineptness! I've had a couple of bosses guilty of those themselves actually.

Totally threw my boss once - when I told him I wouldn't want his job for any money.

That off the cuff comment gave me not only satisfaction but also an understated amount of passive power - he needed me more than I needed advancement.

Bosses pay people to work - if you're efficient - then peception is that you have time on your hands and you're given more work - vicious cycle.

Then again - there are people we all know who have the ability to look busy and do buggar all.

It's the old high school trick really of carrying a clip board under your arm - look like you're supposed to be somewhere, look like you're on a mission and look committed - and chances are no-one will ever challenge you.

Nice (short) post.

heh. #7. I remember a guy at work who sucked up to the boss so much it was as if his nose was buried permanently in our boss's ass. For all his trouble, he only got looked down on and was asked to make coffee everytime our boss had a meeting. Heh.

My bosses have always hated the fact that I'm brilliant when I'm on my game. But sadly, I've always been wildly inconsistent. The product of not being the least bit interested in the jobs that I was doing most likely.

Amazing how now that I have a job I truly enjoy that my work habits have improved greatly. It really IS important to find a job that you enjoy!!
