Crystal's new ergonomic chair and thinking about tomorrow's date.
November 8th 2007 10:10
Today I told face ache that I wanted an ergonomically designed chair. He questioned me, had a look at my chair , said it looke fine to him, but I persisted and he obviously did not comprehend what one was.
I showed him a picture but said I wanted a better one than those, more a luxury one. He raised his eyebrows and said to put it on my company credit car.
No, I said, it's basic office furniture it should not be charged with my personal company expenditures.
Just when are you going to start treating me in accordance with my executive position I asked him, assuring him it was quite some time now since I left University and that I was better qualified than most of those around me and he should stop treating me as the 'token woman'. He remained tongue tied and I said I'd speak to office fittings for the executive staff section and he must approve the purchase.
So what if I don't he asked me smartly, a bit too smart for his own good. Well, I said, I'll just stop working and go over your head. It'll be your risk, he said. Fine, I'm more that up to it, are you?
He blustered a bit more and muttered about conserving costs, I laughed and said well I take it you'll approve as I'm going to see them now and I shall order nothing but the best, I aim to preserve my body in good condition and this job is far too sedentary for my liking. He looked sick and went off mumbling and off I went to the appropriate area with a nice spring in my step. Ah, life was feeling good, at long last, it was time I woke up.
So now I'm home with Tinks and she's happy to be with me, I put a cushion up on my desk and she's lying there watching me, it is almost as if she can read, I turn around and talk to her frequently otherwise she'll get up and plonk herself across my keyboard.
I cooked myself a nice little meal tonight, using some tomatoes ( fresh ) and onions and some herbs from the garden and some parmesan cheese, covering some pasta with my concoction, it was nice but I really needed something a little extra, although the parmesan cheese added a lot of flavour.
Naturally Tink did not want any of that. So I gave her some tinned fish and she liked that.
I followed it with blueberries and yoghurt which was OK and good for me and easy for when you are cooking for one.
In view of my date tomorrow, I'd need to find something to wear. I had a nice skirt and a pretty blouse, very feminine looking and certainly not a business skirt.
I'd need a jacket of some kind, so I scambled around in the cupboard and came up with something in a soft wool, lined but not tailored looking, it has soft lapels and some fake fur. It looked quite nice if not exactly suitable but in the absence of anything else it would have to do, and I found a nice soft handbag, woven and some strappy but rather casual shoes, it changed my appearance entirely from the rest of the week.
I was feeling pretty good about myself but pretty unsure of my new friend from the gardens, but a girl has to start somewhere and at least I didn't meet him at the pub.
I felt a little intrigued and was very much looking forward to my weekend.
