What do you love most about weekends?

January 21st 2008 05:35
weekends

Jim and I shared a BIG breakfast on Sunday morning. Jim loves big breakfasts so I put a lot more on his plate than mine. He doesn't usually come over so early but this was out weekend 'talkfest'. We sort of relaxed into the day after that when Tinkerbelle joined us and helped break the ice.

Jim felt he was very much in the good books from the day before so the smile did not leave his face all day.

We talked about lots of things, both to do with him and to do with me and then Jim's place came up which he'd invested quite a lot of money in but had furnished it with the bare essentials of living and took little interest in his surroundings.

When it was pointed out to him he said he'd often wondered about that but just regarded himself as a typical bachelor and his place as somewhere to hang his hat and hit the sack, and of course shower and sleep and wash his clothes. He admitted he was not much of an interior decorator but he did keep his place reasonably tidy.

He decided to think about putting his own stamp on it a little more but admitted he was very comfortable coming over to my place which he loved.

We had a lot of laughs and jokes throughout the day and when it came around to serious conversation he admitted he'd lacked a suitable male role model in his life and really admired my father and the way he took care of my mother and of all of us as we were growing up.

He asked if I thought my dad would mind if he had a talk to him and I replied, well, I don't know, ask him and Jim gave his usual puzzled smile. So we left it at that, I didn't say so but I think I'd be a bit careful of the "what are your intentions regarding my daughter" and I did think that was rather funny as it was quite a way off from our being in the situation of deciding where this relationship was heading. Presumably I would have a say in all of this.

We both said we'd benefitted from the weekend at home and Tinkerbelle seemed delighted with us. She just loved the attention and the chance for a few new games with Jim.

Next on my list was going to be a dog, but I was still deferring that for a while.

Next weekend we planned all sorts of things and Jim was really quite imaginative with outings and more knowledgeable about the countryside than I was and generally he came up with ideas that I was happy to go along with.

I guess when you are single that's a great opportunity for exploring and doing different social things which may not be so easy once a family comes along.

So I was wondering what you like to do with your weekends, do you like them quiet or on the go, do you like going out to dinner or would you rather stay at home, are you into exciting things like extreme sports, or hang gliding or do you just like having the casual interaction with these things on a once only basis.

I would love to go hot air ballooning some time, but haven't done anything about it yet.

I know a lot of people love to go to the movies regularly but Jim and I seem to just go occasionally generally to some film that comes highly recommended.

So, once again, I repeat the question, what do you like to do with your weekends?

Work, most of the time. Damnit. But love doing all different things when I have time off. Especially going out with my womenfolk to country pubs, or playing trivial pursuit. Whatever I do, I have to have at least some time just by myself to be quiet and do nothing.

Shallow man that I am, breathing seems to give me the most pleasure Krystal, after that, everything else is all good.

You made me laugh Raven but you seem to have your priorities well and truly sorted out and breathing, for most of us, has to be no. 1. Funny how we all take it for granted, isn't it?
